Victories in the Paris Marathon for Elisha Rotich and Tigist Memuye

Kenyan Elisha Rotich set a new course record en route to victory in the Paris Marathon on Sunday, while Tigist Memuye led a clear-cut Ethiopian podium finish in the women’s race.

Rotich, 31, won in 2h 04min 23sec, beating the French capital’s previous record of 2: 05.04 set by Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele in 2014.

Ethiopian Hailemaryam Kiros finished second and another Kenyan, Hillary Kipsambu, third, respectively 19 and 21 seconds off the winner’s pace.

The women’s race was won by Memuye, who clocked 2: 26.12 ahead of compatriot Yenenesh Dinkesa by three seconds, with Fantu Jimma completing the podium with another 7 seconds behind.
